Support Alzheimer's Research in Memory of Ha Phuong Lam
Tax deductible
Hi friends -
This fundraiser is on behalf of Ashlee Lam and her family. On April 2, 2025, Ashlee's mom Ha Phuong Lam passed peacefully at LA General Hospital surrounded by her closest loved ones.
She struggled with Alzheimer’s for many years, and in place of flowers or gifts, the family is raising money for charities dedicated to Alzheimer's disease research, support, and care.
Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, at Peek Funeral Home. For more information and to RSVP, please click here.
About Ashlee's mom, in her own words:
A lot of you might already know that my mom has had Alzheimer's for a while now, and for my closest friends, you've known that in the last few months, she's been in a very rapid decline. But in the spirit of the Forget Me Not, I hope you can also remember her as who she truly was:
Ha Phuong Lam; My mama/má/mommy/媽媽 was a very gentle and kind woman who enjoyed admiring the little things in life.
- She's not a nifty crafter like my dad, but she appreciates artistic little things, which makes them a dynamic little duo since she's the biggest fan of all his creative inventions.
- She liked talking to people, and whenever she met any of my friends, she loved chatting with them. Despite being terrible with names, she and Dad have their own nicknames for every friend based on traits. Every time one of them comes over, my mom is always excited to see them, and somehow, she always has a compliment.
- She loved goldfish. When her Alzheimer's started to get worse, she would tell us this story a lot about how as a little girl she grew up in a very poor household, but she was able to keep a little bowl with goldfish in it.
- My mom loved to walk. She used to walk every day during her lunch break at her job at the D.A. Office. She loved to walk around to see things and to explore when we were in new places. And even when her legs got weaker and her moods began to change, my dad would drive her to different places just to walk around because it would make Mom happier again.
- She loved Christmas, and she loved collecting snow globes to decorate our house with every year with my dad. So when Fedco was going out of business, they dragged their sleepy 6-year-old daughter to the store at the crack of dawn to be sure that we wouldn't miss out on the major Christmas decoration discounts.
- ❤️ She was, and always will be, loving. Her big heart always took in every family member when they needed somewhere to go. And when our family finally had more means, she and my dad looked for ways to give back to their community in places that needed help.
She was all these things and so much more than what became of her. And despite how challenging things had gotten because of her condition, I hope our friends and family—and anyone who has met her—will dig deep for those beautiful, happy memories we had with her.
