Hi everyone!
Last week I got in a motorcycle accident and I broke my leg. I have two snapped tendons (meniscus + ACL) and a fractured femur.
The fracture will heal on its own, but my doctor recommends surgery to repair the ligaments. It’s a simple and routine procedure and I’m ready to face it
There is just one problem: I don’t have insurance. So, I’m asking the network of beautiful humans I've been lucky enough to meet all over the world to donate if you feel comfortable and able to help me get through this.
As some of you know, I am a very independent person (sometimes to a fault) and am learning lots about asking for help in this process. Also learning about caring for myself and making space for healing ❤️
Literally, any one dollar you donate will help me get through this, and you can say you own a part of the metal rod they plan to drill into my knee. It’s kind of like we’ll be together forever
The doctor estimates the initial surgery will cost about $5,000 USD, and then there will be several months of physical therapy that will be an additional cost. We are starting with just the first surgery here, which is scheduled for Monday. I feel lucky to be in Costa Rica, where I’ve been taken care of with so much love. In the US, this surgery would not be possible!
I’ve already heard from so many of you checking in on me, recommending doctors, giving rides, and even making me crutches. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.
Please, everyone, drive with extra care, never rush, and always wear a helmet. And if anyone wants to buy my motorcycle, it's for sale.
The positive thing about falling down is feeling all of the support and love from your friends and community that help pull you back up. I have zero doubt that with your help we can make this happen!! Vamossssssss!
Love always
Eli
