My name is Debbie and I am Glenn McCauley’s sister-in-law. I’m creating this GoFundMe to help someone who has spent his entire life helping others.
If you know Glenn, you know he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He never asks for help, even when he truly needs it. The past several years have been incredibly challenging, but if you ask Glenn how he’s doing, he’ll simply say, “Everything is good.”
About seven years ago, Glenn’s wife, Lori, was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Since then, Glenn’s life has revolved around working and caring for Lori full-time. He pours every ounce of his energy into making sure she is safe, comfortable, and loved. He helps her dress, bathes her, and even does her makeup (he tries ), all without complaint and with endless devotion.
Until recently, Glenn was still working. However, during the government shutdown, his employer made the difficult decision not to reopen. As a result, Glenn lost both his income and his health insurance. He was able to enroll in an Affordable Care Act plan, but like many of us know, the options are limited and often don’t cover everything that’s needed. He chose the best plan he could to cover the basics, but unfortunately, it isn’t enough.
On December 7th, Glenn suffered a stroke. He is currently experiencing partial paralysis on his right side, along with vision loss. His doctors are hopeful that with intensive physical therapy, he can regain strength and improve his vision. They’ve recommended an eight-week rehabilitation program. Glenn’s close friend, Keith Buff, who is also a stroke survivor, has been a tremendous source of encouragement and urged Glenn to enroll in this program.
Sadly, Glenn’s insurance will not cover the cost of this therapy.
The last seven years have taken an emotional, physical, and financial toll on Glenn.. With Christmas approaching, the greatest gift Glenn could receive this year would be the support and generosity of others, help easing the burden of his medical and therapy expenses so he can focus on healing and caring for the woman he loves. Any donation, share, or kind word would mean more than we can express. Thank you for taking the time to read Glenn’s story and for supporting him during this incredibly difficult time.
