Hello everyone! I would love to share a very special story about an amazing woman that needs your help! She is much too prideful to ever reach out herself as she has always been on the other side of the fence, caring and doing whatever she can for others. My very dear friend Nora Bal’s mother, Carol Sanders, is fighting a battle for her life.
In 2022, Carol was diagnosed with bladder cancer which incidentally spread to her lungs. With true tenacity, strength, and perseverance, Carol underwent treatment accompanied by surgeries to rid the cancer from her body. In 2024, Carol received the news everyone prays for. She was cancer-free!!!…..Until she wasn’t. The fretful news came less than a month ago that her cancer had returned. This followed the most egregious February Carol has ever experienced, spending most of the 28 days in the hospital battling pneumonia combined with an infection requiring surgery.
A once vivacious, independent, self-reliant woman who was an extremely successful mortgage lender for 45 years, simultaneously raising 2 children (Nora and Nicholas, now adults) predominantly on her own, later grandmothering and great-grandmothering the lights of her life (Alex, Audrey, and Axel) is now thrust into the unfamiliar world of being reliant on others.
Carol’s pride and joy is her family and some would say her purpose in this life. She has always been the anchor with the ability to help in all ways, including financially. Generous almost to a fault, Carol made sure everyone she loved or knew who was in need was taken care of. This vicious disease has stripped her of everything she once knew. What took decades to build has been demolished in 3 (EXTREMELY LONG) years. Her income has been diminished to next to nothing after being forced into a non-voluntary retirement, only receiving social security benefits. Inflation is crazy and the cost of living is outrageous. Combining this with the added expenses of treatment, she has been forced to sell her car just to keep up. This has been devastating to her because now she is forced to rely on others 100% for everything. She can’t even achieve the simple task of going to get her bloodwork done now without asking someone for a ride.
What an amazing gift we could all come together to deliver for Carol by donating enough funds to enable her to purchase a small, used vehicle and give her a little extra to put aside to give her back the independence she has always known. Please help me in making this horrific time for Carol and her family just a little easier. Anything and everything is appreciated, if only even a prayer!
