If you were in pain, you'd do something about it, right? Well sometimes, it isn't that easy. But together, we can make a huge difference in the life of a wonderful man, my cousin Jeff, by helping him get the treatment he needs to manage his pain.
To this day, I remember meeting my cousin, Jeff, back in the mid 70s: my momma told me that my new cousin, baby Jeffrey, had casts on his legs and arms because his muscles didn’t grow like mine, and that my Auntie had to do exercises with him everyday to help try to build them up. I was a little girl and never quite understood what all this really meant at the time. As years passed, Jeff's personality shined strong. He was a good kid, he blended right into the fabric of our family as he quietly and constantly managed to overcome the mental and physical pain of his muscular disabilities. I became more aware of his pain as we grew older. I was always given pause when I thought of how well Jeff managed - he did not let his disability stand in the way of living his life and rarely, if ever, complained.
Jeff's strength, love, courage, and truly selfless caring soul is amazing. Jeff is the epitome of a "stand up guy”. He went to college and landed a great job working in the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office for 15 years. He met a wonderful woman, they married and started a family. Jeff has now taken on the role of a stay-at-home dad for his two young children, and he does an incredible job.
Unfortunately, his muscular pain has been getting worse with each day.
Simply finding the doctors capable of giving him options to relieve the pain has proven to be a struggle for years. His disease is rare, many people in the medical field have not even heard of it. It is called Arthrogryposis, also called Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC); which is a variety of conditions involving multiple joint contractures (or stiffness). A contracture is a condition where the range of motion of a joint is limited. It may be unable to fully or partially extend or bend. Can you imagine this pain!
I have recently learned he does have an option for relief but he has told me "it's too expensive and insurance will not cover it". They just don’t have the money. Jeff shouldn't live for one more moment in pain if there is an option for treatment through either Stem cell or Prolotherapy injections. Let's help him and his beautiful family move forward and claim some ease and peace, and enjoy a life without pain.
The cost of Jeff's medical treatment is $3-4000 per treatment and he will need a few treatments along with the supportive supplements, and I strongly believe that we can reach that goal! Let's do this for Jeff today, there is no one more deserving!
