It's a difficult thing to watch people you love struggle. My best friend Mary has been fighting to survive for years.
Mary had just recovered from a breast cancer diagnosis when she learned that a lifelong pain in her hip was undiagnosed hip dysplasia. In October 2024, Mary underwent surgery to correct the joint, and she has since been dealing with 11 months of slow moving rehab. Why so slow? Although she is now free from the excruciating pain, we’ve been told the surgery did not heal correctly. Mary is unable to walk without the support of a cane, and the only solution is to undergo surgery once more. Her next surgery is scheduled for October 2025. This is understandably a nightmare–physically, emotionally, and financially.
Mary needs our help. So far, she has been able to navigate these trying times solely thanks to the generosity and mutual aid from her community. But the service industry is hard. If we get sick, we don't work, and we don't make money. Mary is hungry to get back to work and normalcy, but her next surgery will result in 4-6 months of recovery.
I am asking you to help Mary financially so she can focus on her health and healing, because I know she will get through this. Mary’s dedication to her work and her burgeoning nonprofit Chemo Cuts Collective are testament to her strength, her character, and her resilience. She will not succumb to this unfair, nasty string of bad luck.
Your donation will be used for cost of living and transportation expenses. Any amount is welcome. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
