The first week of January my brother was sick for a week and unable to get out of bed for several days. It seemed like Covid or the flu. He started to feel better but within a few days fell ill again and was sick on and off for the better part of January. On January 23rd, he started having trouble breathing and went to the emergency room, where he was immediately admitted.
He had a bacterial infection in his lungs and his vitals were off the charts, which led to sepsis. His symptoms progressed to pneumonia and ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome) and he was hospitalized for twelve days with dangerously low oxygen levels.
Upon receiving the diagnosis we were alarmed to learn that only 50% of people survive ARDS.
He is currently at home recovering, but still on oxygen 24/7. It will take several weeks to be completely off oxygen and could take six months to a year to fully recover. Many people with ARDS never fully regain their full lung capacity, but we are hopeful!
He is currently trying to keep his business going and his workers employed, all after dealing with a long hospitalization and limited physical mobility.
We are asking for your help with getting him back on his feet as he recuperates over the next few months.
Your donations will go towards his medical bills, groceries, house bills , and general living expenses as a father with two teenage children.
