* About me *
I have been wanting this surgery for as long as I can remember (it has been over a decade of waiting) and although I have attempted to save personal funds over the years I have not been able to come anywhere close to covering the costs of surgery. This combined with being on the waitlist to be seen by the gender identity clinic for over three years, have led me to create this fundraiser.
I am a passionate and very proud individual grounded by my community. Some know me as; a friend, colleague, sibling, child, partner, producer and host. Some know me as an outspoken performer passionate about using their voice and speaking up for those not in the room. Alongside doing what I can for others and running various fundraiser events. I believe sharing my story with the world is part of the change. I truly believe through sharing my experience, vulnerabilities and every-day realities that I will resonate with people. Be the representation that has been missing and as a result, have the potential to be profoundly impactful and healing.
Setting up this fundraiser took a lot of encouragement and was not easy. But after hearing the voices of concerned loved ones that it is time I set up a fundraiser for me, well, I am doing just that. I am demonstrating something a lot of us struggle with. Something I know, I personally struggled with up until the point of launching this fundraiser. Asking for help and accepting it.
I want to represent someone we can all be. A person that provides supports and accepts support. Duality in its most beautiful form. It is okay to ask for help, especially in a world that is overwhelming and at many real times, is dangerously against us. I find hope and joy connecting with my community. I hope I get to share some connection with you as you are reading this and joining me in support of my journey.
And so, I want to express my deep gratitude for your time and support. I cannot wait to see the sexy chest that I am yet to carry with me and the scars that will hold my history.

* Thank you *
A message for every single person that makes up a community of support for me:
I profoundly appreciate you. I could simplify the feeling into the two following words; thank you. But it doesn't seem enough. Thank you to those who have held me close over the years and supported me in my self-discovery. Thank you to those who have shown up in more ways than just one and have been behind the authentic human I am today. Thank you to everyone who spends their time, money and effort in helping me raise the funds for this surgery. Thank you.
* the reality of navigating the world as a trans person *
Let's start off by saying I love my intersectional self. I am a proud trans person. A proud queer person. Proud Iranian person. Proud neurodivergent person. All these alongside many more parts of me make me the authentic individual I am today.
Having said that, it wasn't easy getting here. If only younger Atusa could see themselves now! It has been a tough journey and as cringy as it sounds, I like that I get to be the proud and authentic person that I am today despite not knowing the destination. That I have the bodily autonomy to make such a profoundly life changing decision.
However, comma... living in an inherently racist, inaccessible and transphobic world is not easy to navigate. Especially as a brown trans person.
With love <3 Thank you for your support.
