My family is having the worst winter of our lives. I lost my job before Christmas and then our heat stopped working in our home. My husband still works but it’s not enough to even cover all the bills. We just moved into our home in September. I asked Property Management before we got the keys what the big tank in the basement was.. I was told it was a water reserve tank. Which I believed them because they would know since this is their house. Well our heat went out and they hired a third party contractor to fix the problem and he told us that the big tank downstairs was a fuel tank that runs the furnace. Now we have no heat because we can’t afford to purchase diesel oil for our furnace. We have a 3 year old and a 5 year old living here and they can’t even sleep in their rooms because it’s an icebox in there we had to move their beds to the living room area. We are surviving off of two small heaters that if you’re not directly in front of it you will be cold. My kids are now sick and we are barely staying afloat as is, and now property management told me that because the furnace is under gas and electric we have to pay for the fuel even though they were in the wrong for not knowing what the tank in the basement was to begin with. I have reached out to many agencies and because my employment was recent they can’t help us I’ve been told have to wait 30 days!! Well we don’t have that kind of time my kids are sick and I’m running out of options. I don’t like asking for help but I have no other option if anyone can find it in their heart to please help our family, it would be the best Christmas Miracle!! God Bless you and thank you soo much!!
