Hi all,
I was diagnosed with stage 1 Triple Negative breast cancer in late August. I just went through round 1 out of 16 of chemotherapy, and it was rough. As some folks already know, I live on my own and I commute for my work (currently working for Shasta County Probation as an Analyst). Unfortunately, my employer will not let me work from home while undergoing chemo, so I have to miss work on the days I am too exhausted and ill to drive. I do not have enough PTO to cover every week of chemo where I will be missing work, I am too early in my career at Shasta to qualify for FMLA, and with the government shut down, I am not sure how state disability will fare, so I'm hoping I can raise some funds to help cover some of my bills.
Every dollar will go to rent, utilities, car payments, or gas bills for days when I can drive myself to work. I am also looking into any breast cancer foundation funding, and will be applying to everything I can. Some of the foundations only allow you to apply at the beginning of the month, so I have missed that window for October, but I will keep you all updated as I explore my options.
Thank you for reading this far and for donating or sharing my fundraiser.
