Jaime worked as an oncology nurse in Boston when her beloved Grandmother (Gram) became too ill to live alone. Jaime did not hesitate to give up her job, apartment, and successful life in Boston and relocate to Falmouth to take care of her. With only a suitcas, she moved into Gram’s one-bedroom 200 sq ft senior apartment to ensure she got the care she so desperately needed. For more than a year Jamie slept on a small mattress on the floor, posted goofy pictures of her an Gram on Facebook, and most importantly, bring life and hope to the woman who raised her. Jaime did all this with an amazing smile on her face. Her sacrifice, love, and amazing sense of humor have been inspirations to all who have been blessed to meet her and call her a friend.

A little over two weeks ago, Gram fell and broke her hip. Her frail frame and immune system proved too weak to shoulder the pain and she sadly passed away. Jaime was destroyed by the loss of the woman who gave her so much. We did what we could to help Jaime through this loss. We encouraged her to be strong, and to cherish the great memories she and Gram made together. We reminded her that as painful as it is, she would eventually find normalcy and that Gram will always be there looking over her and guidingher along. It was hard to see Jaime go through this. Gram was the love of her life.
Jaime is going to be okay emotionally. She has a huge circle of friends that have helped her get through the emotional periods. But moral support, hugs, and words of encouragement can only go so far. Jaime is now without a job and a home. She also had to give up her car.
We set up this gofundme page hoping to raise a bit of money to help Jaime get back on her feet. To pay bills. To regain confidence. To restart her life doing what she loves to do...giving back to others. We learned not too long ago that Jaime became an Oncology nurse over 10 years ago after losing her fiancé to cancer. The loss for her was devastating. But amazingly, she pulled through and dedicated her life to helping other cancer patients. She would give the shirt off her back to help a stranger. Please consider a small contribution to give back to someone that has given so much to others. After all...it takes a village!
Today is Gram's birthday too! And what better gift to give...on behalf of her Gram!
