Rothwell Preservation Trust
The Rothwell Preservation Trust is a charitable organisation formed in 1985. The Trust’s goal is to preserve Rothwell’s wealth of history through restoration projects on the many historic buildings in the town. The Trust has already carried out restoration projects on a few of the buildings in the town, including the The Manor House and Nunnery Cottages. These projects wouldn't have been possible without your valuable support.
The Trust is currently raising funds to put towards the upkeep of one of the town’s most iconic buildings: The Market House. The Market House is in urgent need of essential repairs to the roof. Your donations can help us to carry out this important work and also help us to carry out future projects.
The Market House is a Grade 1 Listed building located at the heart of Rothwell's community; The Market Square. The beautiful building is one of the defining features of the town, and has been the backdrop to community events such as Rowell Fair and the weekly market for centuries. The building was designed by Sir Thomas Tresham and was intended as a gift to the townspeople as a display of gratitude for Northamptonshire. With your support, the Trust is dedicated to upholding this important piece of Rothwell's history so that it can be appreciated by many generations to come.
There is a great sense of civic pride in Rothwell. The Trustees hope that the conservation work they undertake will encourage a wider interest in improving older buildings in the Town and create an impetus for upgrading the environment of Rothwell generally, and help protect the Conservation Area.
