Help Hazel Walk Again: Emergency Spine Surgery
$5,000 to raise + $1000 (new unexpected costs)= $6000 new total
Hazel is my, my daughter Kaya, and her mom's beloved dog and truly a member of our family. Out of nowhere, over the past few days she started moving slower, stopped jumping into the car, and became more lethargic. One night, she began panting and having trouble walking, and by the next morning, her back legs just didn’t work. We rushed her to the veterinarian in San Diego, where they told us it’s most likely a slipped disc in her spine.
She needs an MRI to confirm, but the IVDD surgery and MRI together would be over $18,000 here in San Diego at the VCA vet we initially took her to. My daughter, her mom, and I all share custody of Hazel—she goes back and forth with my daughter and is truly all of our best friend, and has brought so much Love and joy to our shared family, and seeing her in pain (even with the meds she's on) has been heartbreaking to say the least. We found a clinic just across the border (Vet Playas in TJ) that can do the MRI and surgery for much less (around $5000!), which is much more manageable. Time is of the essence so that surgery will hopefully be this week. Our families have helped some and will continue to help, but we’re all pretty tight on funds right now. That’s why I’m reaching out to friends and the community for support.
Even a small donation will help us cover the surgery. We’re committed to caring for her during her recovery for the coming months. It’s a lot, but Hazel is worth every bit of effort—she’s a REAL ONE, and we want to do everything we can for her. The surgery has a pretty high success rate and she's young so we're really optimistic about it. So with your help, Hazel can walk again and get back to her happy, loving self. Thank you so much for any support you can give. Let’s get this done for Hazel!
