Hello! My name is Emily and I'm reaching out to all of you lovely folks for some help. Recently my mother and I have gotten slammed with back to back payments on car repairs. Last week my car broke down in the evening after work and my only option at the time was to take it to Canadian Tire who screwed me over and got me to pay for 2 extra parts and labor that I didn't need. I am currently working to get some of my money back, but in total I had to pay $1,400 CAD.

This week, my mother's transmission on her truck kicked the bucket. The repair and labor cost for a new transmission for her vehicle is $7,500 CAD. So in total, almost $9,000 CAD in repairs that neither of us were prepared to pay at all. Neither of us can afford new vehicles at the moment, and have paid for other repairs this year, so we are looking to get as much life out of these vehicles as possible before considering an upgrade.
