Hi, my name is Kelley & I am David's oldest sister. My brother David is currently in ICU awaiting a liver transplant in Gainesville, FL. David was diagnosed in 2013 with cirrhosis of the liver. He has an autoimmune illness that has been attacking his liver for years & now he is in stage 4 liver failure.
For those of you who know David, you know that his life revolves around his wife, Shelly & his daughter, Brooklyn. His current situation has devastated them & right now, they are learning to cope with the fact that their Superman needs a new liver. David has been in & out of the hospital for the past two months. He has had multiple blood transfusions, his kidneys have shut down at one point & he gets enormous amounts of fluid drawn off of him weekly. Last week he had a total of 9.5 liters pulled off of him within two days. David has always focused on his family while managing his pain daily.
Since David & Shelly moved to Florida, he has been their primary source of income. However, he has not worked for weeks & will probably not go back to work for months after his transplant. David, Shelly and Brooklyn are such a lovely family; they need lots of prayers and support during this time.
I am raising money to help with David's medical expenses and to help Shelly and Brooklyn financially since it will be a while before David can get back to himself. The drive to Gainesville from Jacksonville is 1.5 hours one way & Shelly often misses work to attend his hospital appointments with him. Although David has insurance, the medical bills are starting to pile up. Shelly is maintaining as well as she can while being there to support her husband in every way possible.
Any donations will be given directly to the family for David's medical expenses, travel expenses & any other expenses incurred throughout the coming months.
