Hi, my name is Serena Sonoma, a transgender writer by way of North Carolina.
The first memory I have of coming to understand myself as the transgender woman I am today was at the age of six, when I would walk around my family home in my aunt’s black Manolo Blahnik pumps. Wearing my grandmother’s scarves loosely on my head, I would imagine it to be the same long flowing hair she had and used to fuss with so much.
As I grew older my gender only grew louder, and by the age of 23, I set the path for my transition.
6 years later and I'm not quite there yet. This GoFundMe is to help with the costs for gender-affirming surgery, more specifically breast augmentation, one of the biggest sources of gender dysphoria.
In navigating and affirming my gender, finalizing my journey and stepping fully into my skin is of the utmost and urgent of importances.
And help that I would deeply appreciate.
Thank you,
Serena Sonoma
