Our journey began on a normal Saturday in October. At 18 months old, Radley woke with reddish blue bruising on his face. From the local ER, to Dell Children's Hospital in a matter of hours...we were told Radley may have leukemia. Much blookwork and many tests have confirmed that fear; Radley has M7 AML (Acute Megakaryoblastic leukemia). We were in utter disbelief and heart broken. This poor beautiful baby... AML is a very rare form of leukemia for children and all tests were indicating poor prognoses. It's been only 5 days and the battle has begun with day one of chemo today. Several cycles of chemo, isolation, and subsequent complete marrow transplant at MD Anderson in Houston are required. Months of hospitalization, treatment and post treatment, will be necessary. Their world has been turned upside down. The anguish and fear of a baby diagnosed with cancer is unimaginable. On top of the emotional distress, the financial burden of cancer is overwhelming. There are few financial aides for Radley's type of leukemia. We are doing all we can, but we need your help. Please, it could be your child, your nephew (as Radley is mine), your grandchild...who in an instant, is fighting for his life. Help us fight for Radley with whatever contribution you can make. It will be a long battle---but Radley is a fighter, and we won't stop fighting for him.
