Paul's Healing Journey

Hi my name is Eileen and I'm fundraising for my son in law Paul.

My son in law, Paul Lacey was seriously injured after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Punta Gorda, Florida on December 4th. He was traveling for business and was walking to a restaurant from his hotel. He was crossing on a green light in a crosswalk when a reckless young kid made a left turn and hit him so hard that he was thrown 30 feet. He was taken to an area hospital and had cardiac arrest en route. They were able to resuscitate him but he was in critical condition and wasn't expected to survive. He was airlifted to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers. This is a level 2 trauma facility and he's receiving excellent care there. He suffered an extensive and severe skull fracture and was put on a ventilator. He's heavily sedated and has a feeding tube. He was taken off the ventilator today and was given a tracheostomy . If all goes well, he will spend the next 3-4 weeks at Gulf Coast and then will be transferred to a rehab facility near his and my daughter's home. They had just relocated from New York to Florida 8 weeks ago and their home is 8 hours away from the hospital. He will spend at least 3-6 months in a rehab and hopefully regain all brain function. I'm asking for any donation, no matter how small, to offset the cost of lodging rentals and travel expenses for my daughter Krystina. She's been staying in a hotel near the hospital and will be traveling home on weekends to keep everything running smoothly there. We are so grateful that Paul survived this tragedy but he and my daughter have a very long, hard road ahead. We all appreciate any kindness you can extend toward Paul and Krystina.
