Hello Everyone,

(Urgent Update - December 11, 2016)

Hello All.  Last Christmas, I started this fundraiser to help try to ease the financial burden of the Moore family as they dealt with Don’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis. I sincerely thank you all for your generosity. This past year has proven extremely difficult as all attempts to stop this deadly disease have seemingly failed. While the family is hoping and praying for a miracle for Don, they are also in a deep financial struggle to makes ends meet. I am urgently asking you to again consider donating or providing ongoing support for this wonderful family. They truly need our help. Below is a personal plea from the Moore family. Thank you...Alex

"Our dear friend Alex started this account for us last Christmas, five months after Don was diagnosed. We wholeheartedly appreciate the generous donations you have already bestowed upon us. However, this year, we must personally appeal to you for help as our options are nearly exhausted. For the past 15 months, we have been battling Don's pancreatic cancer. He has undergone chemotherapy, radiation and unsuccessful surgery to remove the tumor in his pancreas as it was found to be growing into a major vein. Recently, Don received test results indicating that his tumor is active again as his cancer markers have doubled. He is now dealing with diabetes due to the dysfunction of his pancreas. With Don unable to work and an insurance plan that failed to pay for the unsuccessful, extremely costly surgery, we are struggling to make ends meet. We appreciate any donation that you are willing to make and ask that you keep Don in your prayers this holiday season. God bless you and your families."

Dear Friends, Neighbors and Those of You we do not know personally,  I am reaching out to you on this Christmas Day as the Moore family needs our prayers and generousity in their fight with Pancreatic Cancer.  My name is Alex Petronella.  My family and I have been neighbors and friends with the Moore's for twenty years.  I have seen the devastation of pancreatic cancer firsthand as I lost both my mother and father to this terrible disease.

Don is in the prime of his life at 56 years.  He resides in Basking Ridge, NJ, with his family (wife Brenna, daughter Alyssa, and son Dennis) in the home where he was born and raised.  The Moore's are everyone's neighbor.  They are the nicest, most generous, unassuming, egoless people you will meet.  They are a very close family, always smiling and happy to be alive.  We've had the pleasure to watch their children grow into fine young adults.

This past August, Don received a CAT scan for a perceived bladder infection.  Instead, he received disturbing news that the scan accidentally indicated a mass on his pancreas.  A biopsy confirmed the doctors' suspicions.  Don and his family were shocked, but they are bravely facing this terrible disease with a positive attitude.

Unfortunately, Don's prognosis is uncertain.  The tumor needs to be removed but doctors must try to shrink it as it is dangerously pressing against a major vein.  Don has been receiving chemotherapy treatments since September, which will continue into 2016.  We are hopeful the treatments will sufficiently shrink the tumor so it can be removed. If not, the doctors will try radiation.  If the tumor does not shrink, it will be inoperable.

During this time, Don has been unable to retain his employment as he is worn out from the chemo treatments and their numerous side effects.  In addition to his loss of income, high insurance premiums and very high out-of-pocket expenses are having a devastating impact on the family's financial condition.

I am asking you to please consider donating any amount to help ease the financial burden this emotionally draining disease has brought to this family.  Don and his family are not people who have ever asked for support, and are deeply appreciative of the possible benefit of this campaign.

With Deepest Gratitude,

Alex Petronella & Family
