Raising money to help pay for medical expenses related to ruptured Diverticulitis.
Went into 3 hour surgery. They wanted to do laparoscopic (keyhole) small incisions. It was much worse inside and turned into a 5 hour marathon of traditional cutting open.
They had to remove 10cm of my bowels and put in a temporary colostomy. After about 3 months they should be able to remove that and stitch my pipes back together.
It was the worst it could be with my abdomen full of gas, bile, and fecal matter so they had to do a lot of removal and cleaning. I also have a couple drains put in to continue to try to clean anything missed.
Not 100% out of the woods yet but can see the end of the forest now. Last night I really thought was my last.
I am still in a lot of pain and a long way to go but compared to the last 6 days things finally seem to be going in the right direction.
We are talking with the hospital about an estimate for the treatment. Should have more information about that soon.
Diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's Disease in 2015 and has progressed to stage 4 now. Monthly medication expenses are barely manageable already.
I have already applied for disability (it won’t pay for hospital) last year, just to help us get by but because of COVID19 the processing is taking even longer than usual. I have no idea when/if that will be approved. Parkinson’s is on the SSA “blue book” list so it should be.
