As many of you know I am going to continue my career in Journalism and Photography after high school. I was recently selected to represent not just Lake City, but Michigan at the Washington Journalism and Media Conference, located in Washington DC, George Mason University. I will be attending this conference in July 2020 for six days. This will grant me the opportunity to meet some of my idols, including editors from National Geographic, Washington Post, New York Times, and several other organizations.
Tuition for this conference is around $3,000, which covers housing for six days, all meals except one lunch, one college credit, National Youth Correspondent Dinner, and Gala with distinguished speakers and guests, journalism and leadership skills development, interactive activities and site visits, distinguished speakers, all materials and instruction, along with deluxe motor coach transportation to and from the Washington, D.C. area airports and George Mason University.
Considering tuition expense, I will be collecting pop cans and donations to make attendance possible. Once we are through with collecting donations we will be making a t-shirt with names, and any businesses that donated. I will be wearing the shirt in Washington to promote the businesses that helped me reach this life changing goal.
