Giving Grandma needs your help.
On March 23, 2015 Annette Halsey-Newcomb was diagnosed with a brain mass. It was diagnosed by the St Lukes Medical Center team in Milwaukee as a Lymphoma. Since March 31st that time Annette has been in the hospital receiving care. She is receiving chemo therapy, steroids and other medicines. We do not yet know her prognosis, but she is responding well to treatment thus far. Annette has fallen on difficult times. Last August, after 18 years with the same company she was let go. Annette has been in the newspaper business for 30 years. She has been a reporter, writer, photographer and editor. She has put in the long hours met all the deadlines and remained loyal to her employer. As anyone in the newspaper business knows you will never get rich in the business, but you will be doing what you love. Annette was hitting the pavement and knocking on doors when the brain mass appeared. She will be fighting this fight for some time. Her family and friends have been helping her emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially. We need your help to help Annette. Annette is a giving Grandma. She was always the first person to jump in and give what she could to help anyone. Now she is in need.
You may know Annette. She is a well-known name in the southern Wisconsin area. Especially Walworth, Twin Lakes and Elkhorn. She wrote a weekly column called “But that’s another story. . . ”
She was born in Aurora,Il and raised in Earlville,IL
I am Carol, her sister. I created this Go Fund Me account to help Annette. All monies donated will be used for Annette’s housing and medical bills. You may wonder how I can up with the total number. Her monthly housing, utility, grocery and other monthly bills are approximately 1500 a month x 12 months. It seems like a lot and it is. We have cut everything and eliminated everything we could without being penalized. Did you know, if you try to give back your leased car, they can sue you for the difference and garnish any money you have? I didn’t, but I do now.
As much as we want to be able to do this on our own. The beast is bigger than us and we ask for your help. So many people want to know if there is anything they can do. Yes. There is. Even if you cannot donate financially, your prayers would also be appreciated. Thank you for all your support. Carol
