Haydee road to recovery

My name is Valentina Prada and I am writing this campaign to inform all of our friends and family about the current health situation that my mom, Haydee, has been going through.

On June 15, My mom started feeling weak she had unexplained lost of energy . She went to see her primary care physician and was sent to the lab where they did some blood work. Blood work came back with some bad news, her hemoglobin level was at 4.4 she was immediately asked to rush to the ER where all she needed was a blood transfusion. suddenly  she developed a high fever which had to be monitored, she was admitted into the hospital for the next 3 days. After numerous blood tests, platelet and red blood cell transfusions, she was diagnosed with leukemia.

After her diagnosis she has faced different
health complications.

On July 3, she was rushed to the hospital with
high fever and vomit. Her body had entered a
sepsis shock due to an infection. She had to be
intubated and put into an induced coma.  The
infection was later on diagnosed as Necrotizing
fasciitis. Due to this infection, she has gone
through several debridements to remove skin
tissue of the left leg up to her abdomen wall.
After this procedure a colostomy had to be done, after 26 days of intubation  a tracheotomy had
to be performed as well , a peg tube had to be
placed in order to continue her nutrition. With
all this procedures done in so little time , her
body is uncontrollable pain and she is been given high dosage of medication. Hospice was given as an option to which i refused to give consent.

After refusing hospice. on December 1, my mom woke up from the coma; disorientated with a trach collar and her body adapting to all procedures done.

She started speech therapy as well as physical therapy. In only 1 week speech therapy was a complete success and my mom is able to talk normally, vocal cords were not affected and is neurologically fine.

On February 4,2021 after 7 months of been hospitalized she was discharged. To only 6 hours later have to rush her back to the ER.

My mom started showing signs of prolapsed stoma, low plalets counts and severe pain. Her progressive stoma prolapse requires surgical repair to which the oncology team and surgeon refuse to do due to its high risk procedure as well as her prognosis of 2-3 months.

On March 5,2021 she had a severe back pain,I rushed her over to UM Emergency Room after several xrays she was diagnosed with pleural effusion. After the diagnosis, a catheter was placed on her left lung to be able to drain the lung every 2 days.

With her low blood levels, daily transfusions are needed. She is currently on antibiotics for a candida infection as well.

If she was to be discharged , home healthcare as well as medical supplies and medications will be needed.

Due to the sudden situation she went through , she is currently not  a candidate for chemotherapy.

I ask for all of you to keep her in your prayers as we continue to recover. My warrior will continue to fight Leukemia.

Due to her been uninsured , medical bills are
currently over $400k. Luckily for many,
insurance can assist with that worry.
Unfortunately, for her that assistance isn't
an option.

This support will alleviate some stress and provide a sense of security. During this time we must all come together and support each other in
whatever way we can. By giving a donation, YOU can make a difference in her life and we could
continue to provide her with all medical
treatments needed.

From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you
