Chan's Legal Fee

Chan Chhoeur is a Cambodia American man born in Thailand after fleeing the war and genocide in the 1970's. Chan, like many Cambodian refugees at that time, resettled in the United States at the age of 1 in 1978. Chan is a long time resident of Providence, Rhode Island and calls the Ocean State home.

Growing up as a first generation here in the US, Chan struggled to survive. In 1997, Chan ran into some problems with the law and served some time in prison. In 2006, Immigration picked Chan up and ordered him deported to Cambodia for his past conviction. He spent 90 days in a detention center and was released to his family in Providence.

Since then, Chan changed his life around. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island and worked as a Chemical Engineer for 13 years. Chan supports his 8 year old daughter and 85 years old father right up until he had to turn himself in on October 3rd. Chan has now been detained for over 60 days and is awaiting the judge's final decision.

We need your help to hire a immigration lawyer to fight Chan's deportation order! Help Chan be home with his family this holiday season!
