It is with a heavy heart that I write my beloved best friend, Pumpkin, was hit by a car Thursday evening. The driver drove away leaving Pumpkin and if it weren't for two anonymous good samaritans, I'm not sure Pumpkin would be alive. Pumpkin's back right leg was hit by the car and is now needing either a surgery or amputation. The surgery will cost $7,000 upfront and without other medical costs. Because I am on the SF SPCA's gracious financial assistance program, my only option is amputation. If you know Pumpkin you know she loves anyone she meets until you stop petting her, and then she'll love you all over again. Pumpkin is my registered ESA and has had an everlasting impact on my life, and the lives of everyone she meets. Pumpkin serves as a (non-official) therapy dog for college students throughout the Bay Area.
I adopted Pumpkin from the SF SPCA in September after the Harvey hurricane hit Houston in 2017. Pumpkin was in the shelter in Houston and was going to be put down to make room for the dogs that had been lost during the storm. The SF SPCA took 50 dogs to San Francisco, and Pumpkin shorty became my best friend. She has undergone surgery for a cyst in her head, heartworms from the storm, and the traumas of being abandoned. She is a fighter and I want her to be able to keep fighting.
Please consider making a donation so we don't have to amputate Pumpkin's leg and keep her alive and healthy. The funds raised will go directly to Pumpkin's medical costs which include either surgery or amputation, medicine, and hospital stay. Pumpkin is a pitbull that changes lives. Please help her continue to change the lives of many more.
