I'm sharing this news about my dad Joal Diaz. He was recently diagnosed with an enlarged heart which caused Congestive Heart Failure. The condition is exasperated by only 2 of 6 arteries working and scar tissues have already formed in the area of the clogged arteries. The ejection fraction in the left ventricle is so low, he doesn't qualify for bypass surgery. Normal ejection fraction is around 60 to 80% and his being at 14%. He is currently awaiting cardiac rehab treatment to increase his EF (ejection fraction) from 14%. If his EF does not increase over 35% within six months a surgery will be needed to install a defibrillator to assist with his heart function, or a heart transplant will be needed.
He has spent the last 5 months caring for his nanay (mother) 24 hours a day, 4 days a week. My dad is always there for his kids, family, and friends at the drop of a dime. He already started the disability paperwork but the timing, review and approval is unknown. We would love to help him focus on getting stronger and adjusting to his new normal, instead of stressing about medical and day to day living bills. Your help in any way would be such a blessing.
-- A little background about Joal.
Joal and his family came to America from the Philippines back in the 70's to start a new life. He grew up with five siblings Noel, Raul, Fiel, Leah and Lyda. He is a 10 year US Air Force Desert Storm Veteran. He has 3 children Kolby, Kaitlyn, and Koya as well as 2 grandchildren Kamden and Caleb.
