Hi, I'm Cindy and I am fundraising for Tom Smith and his family. On August 9th, Tom was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and an infection. He was in ICU for 5 weeks and on a ventilator for 16 days. On August 27th he had tracheotomy surgery. He has been unable to speak or move much, and is fed through tube feeding. September 13th he was transferred to a Specialty Rehab Hospital to try to get him off the ventilator and work on speech, eating and walking, in hopes that he will be able to regain a normal lifestyle.

It has been a long, tough road for him and his family, and more ahead as he continues to fight to regain his strength.

Tom does not have any sick time with his job, and his wife Jackie is back and forth to the hospital alot, and has about exhausted all her vacation time.
