My name is Jerell Fields. In 2010, I graduated from Winston-Salem State University after 4 years of Division I collegiate golf. During that same summer, I played in 3 amateur golf events, placing in the top 10 in 2 out of the 3 tournaments. Once the summer was over, I knew my game had advanced enough to give the pro ranks a try, so I did! 3 tournaments into my 2011 season, I hurt my back. An acute lumbar strain between the L4 & L5 was the diagnosis, causing me to discontinue my pursuit to becoming a Professional Golfer. Although the decision to stop was necessary, my dream of playing golf for a living was still present and I knew one day I would be well enough to give it another try!
During my hiatus, I was blessed enough to receive a job at a Top 50 Golf School In America and months later i was offered the position of Assistant Golf Professional at TPC Piper Glen. In both positions, I've been given the opportunity to meet, and talk with some of the world's top golfers. I have played against them and seeked advice from them and during those run ins, I have learned a lot about the game of golf and my own game as well! Secretly, these Professionals have motivated me along the way and have inspired me to play some of my best golf ever!
Almost 4 years and 2 swing changes later, here I am again! Playing better than I was before the back injury! Scoring more consistent than before the back injury! Smarter than I was before the back injury! And what better way to get back into the swing of things, than at my own home course, TPC Piper Glen!
On Wednesday, October 29th and Thursday, October 30th, TPC Piper Glen will host a 2-day Mini Tour event. With the competitive juices still flowing and the swing in sync, I would love to give it a go! With your donations, I can try and keep my dream alive. Any contributions will help!
I thank you all in advance, and look forward to keeping every one up to date as I add this journey back on to my list of LIFE!
