My friend Mandy is suddenly faced with a custody battle. She is a wonderful single mother of two children. She has struggled for three years to make ends meet and has gotten no child support from her ex-husband the entire time. He is more than able but has bullied Mandy for years and she was afraid to ask for it. A few months ago she got enough courage to file for support with the courts. Her ex-husbands unwillingness to pay has resulted in him trying to take her children from her. Mandy isn't just my friend, I also sponsor her in a 12 step program. She has remained in recovery over the past years and this has NEVER been an issue with the children's father until now. He is dragging up old things from her past and has launched a full blown attack just to avoid paying child support. She has been doing her own paperwork for court because all of her funds go to living each day and providing the basic needs for her children and herself. It's an emergency now and she must have an attorney. I see so many go fund me pages for frivolous things and her situation is so important. Her children need their mother as she is a rock for them. Her past struggles do not define the woman she has become. I want to help her equip herself to stand up to this controlling man who is once again bullying her. This is abusive and she deserves to be able to stand up for herself and protect her children from this dangerous game he is playing. She doesn't have family to help other than her family in recovery.
