"You have breast cancer."
Being told that at 43 was a moment in my life I will never forget. So many things went through my mind, my life, my kids, my fiance and the battle.
It has been a rollercoaster ride since that day, doctor appointments, scans, tests. With every appointment another question would arise, more tests, more waiting.
Ironiclly in Breast Cancer Awarness month I have had a double masectomy with all lymph nodes removed on my left side. I have chemo scheduled and am ready for the next round of this battle.
I am a part-time employeed mother with the luck of having great insurance, but the deductable and co-pay costs are a lot. The amount raised will assist in the cost of care as well as the (insurance denied) genitic test to have the knowledge for my children and their risk of breast/reproductive cancer.
I am strong and this isn't going to kill me!!
