***Update on Refunded Donations.***
Chris here again with some clarifications on your refunds.
So I missed the deadline on setting up withdrawals on June 15th and it started refunding people who had donated. It still shows the account balance was approximately 17k but it refunded all but one person and is back to 0$. I encourage all of you to check your bank account to see if your donation was returned. I know many of you have already reached out when you saw the refund hit your bank accounts. We tested new donations today and they are being properly transferred out of Gofundme and into my bank account. Current donations show at around 19k, but its actually only $1500 because the 17k of original donations were refunded. I sincerely apologize for all of this confusion, my brain wasn't working properly during the 42 day chemo/radiation stint that I just finished. Also, its impossible to get a human being on the phone from Gofundme so it took me some time to sort this out via email.
I realize its a very different time for everyone with the Covid crisis and many peoples financial situations have changed. If you were refunded from your original donation and are able to send it back it would be greatly appreciated. If you need to keep the refund for your own financial stability I encourage you to do so.
I go back for new diagnostics the June 29th and we'll asses my treatment path going forward. My vision still hasn't improved so I'm getting some special Prism glasses to help with my peripheral vision. I start a new treatment in a couple weeks called Optun. Its a helmet I wear 16 hours a day that uses charged electrodes to zap cancer cells. It's still fairly new but has been really well received. I'll probably do another year, or at least 6 months, of monthly Chemo treatments. The 42 day intensive radiation, which made me a scatterbrain hitting so much healthy tissue, is thankfully over. The original prognosis was 1, maybe 2 years, but we're optimistic for 3 or 4 given that the tissue type responds well to the Chemo and the early, but positive, results from the Optun helmet.
Looking forward to this Covid mess being over so I can give all of you a giant hug.
Again, sorry for confusion and thank you everyone so much for your love and understanding through all this.
Chris Walter, an aspiring Master Sommelier in Houston unexpectedly had a seizure while at work several weeks ago. After a series of tests, it was determined he had a malignant brain tumor.
80% of the tumor was removed in a lengthy surgery March 11th. Chris has a long recovery in front of him which will include chemotherapy and radiation for the next 6 weeks and possibly up to a year.
Chris’s parents have come to Houston to help him through the surgery and recovery. Chris does not have room in his small apartment so they have rented an Airbnb so they can all be together and eventually be able to have guests stop by once his immune system is stronger.
Funds needed will help cover emergency room visit, deductible on his new health plan, lost wages, apartment lease, food and lodging for the next 6-8 weeks.
If you have ever met Chris, you immediately fell in love with his incredible personality, sense of humor and wit. Please join us in sharing our love with Chris by helping him through this unexpected health issue.
