Nicholas "Nico" Frescas, 16, was involved in an ATV accident on Oct. 23, 2021. He was admitted to UMC's ICU unit with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), broken clavicle, punctured lung and compressed spinal fracture. He was placed in a medically induced coma for the first few days to help relieve his brain pressure.
Once Nico woke up about a week later with the help of medications and breathing assistance, his doctors immediately decided to move him to a rehab center for pediatric brain injuries in Houston, Texas. He is currently at Nexus Children's Hospital making big strides and getting better. Nico has proven to be strong, more responsive, and progressing well with his intensive therapy.
Nico's parents, Nick and Jordan, have not left his side and continue to be positive and strong for their baby boy throughout these last difficult weeks. He still has a long recovery ahead in Houston. In addition to prayers and good vibes, we are reaching out to friends and family to help absorb some of the cost for the Frescas family. Any financial gift will be used to help our boy Nico in his recovery and help get Nick and Jordan's son back home to El Paso.
