HELPING UKRAINE
We’ve organized this page to support a grass-roots group of Polish-Ukrainian volunteers providing humanitarian assistance to war-torn Ukraine. This group is now in desperate need of medical supplies, especially tactical first aid kits.
100% OF YOUR GIFT WILL GO TOWARDS RELIEF
Each week, this group of volunteers drives from Poland to towns in Western Ukraine to distribute much needed supplies. Their shopping list is based on what they see and hear from local residents while in Ukraine. In any given week, this might include a need for medication and diapers, while the next week might focus on wound dressings and baby formula.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Countless Poles have opened their hearts and homes to Ukrainian refugees. We are proud to say this includes our close friends from high school, Dominika and Bartek, who run an architectural firm in Krakow.
One of their employees of three years was a talented Ukrainian architect, Volodya. When the war started, Volodya immediately decided to go back to Ukraine to defend his home country. Before he left, all his Polish friends chipped in to buy him a bulletproof vest and other protective gear.
Volodya’s mother, and his 2 sisters, Jana and Daryna, are now safely in Krakow where they head-up the Rural Youth Development Foundation, a charitable NGO (https://www.facebook.com/groups/volynfrsm). The initial focus of this foundation was to support poor youth in rural parts of Ukraine. Today it provides help for their war-torn nation.
Each week, they solicit donations, buy supplies, fill up their cargo vans, and the two sisters and a group of volunteers make the trip across the border. Sometimes they even manage to meet with Volodya.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
