Help Escape Plan Board Shack recover from theft!

As a good friend and big supporter of Wil Tuba, the energy behind Escape Plan Board Shack, I have started this GoFundMe page to help him recover from a life altering theft this past summer. I do this because he is an inspiration, someone who started his dream business from the ground up and believe no-one, especially Wil, deserves to have their dreams broken and their livelihood taken away by the inhuman acts of criminals.

Here is his story:

This summer my dream and hard work were shattered when thieves broke into my mobile shop, stole my wallet and emptied my bank accounts through elaborate methods. Despite 6 months of my best efforts with the banks and police, my business and personal savings have not been recovered and will not be reimbursed.

So, what is Escape Plan? Escape Plan is more than just a business - it is my way of building a new life. After years of working hard in construction, I dreamt of a way to escape that grind and build a life and business surrounding my passion for kiteboarding. I fell in love with the sport after starting out in windsurfing and I knew I wanted to make this a part of my life. In Ottawa, I found, there was only one brand of kite gear available locally, so I decided to create something new: Escape Plan Board Shack, a local shop where Ottawa Valley kiteboarders can find the gear they need without travelling outside the city.

Escape Plan Board Shack is my dream turned into reality. I invested everything I had 3 years ago - my hard-earned money, my time and my energy - without loans or outside help. This summer, as business was slowly steadying, I had been planning to open a pop-up shop with the purchase of a container and even had a location being secured. Unfortunately, the theft this summer has taken those plans and my dream away and I stand on shaky ground with debts to pay to suppliers and repairs to make to my mobile shop. I am reaching out for help to pay off these debts and recover from this setback. Your support will allow me to rebuild my business.
