Hello my name is Omar Casillas I'm 34 years old and I've been married for almost 14 years to my beautiful and amazing wife. We have three amazing children. I work as a full time EMT for MedStar in Ft.Worth Texas and part-time paid/volunteer Fire Fighter for Bono Fire Department in Johnson County. I found out when I went in for a check up because my eyes were irritated and my vision was blurry especially at night. The doctor then told me I needed to see a cornea specialist. I made the appointment to see the specialist. He ran various test and after he was done he confirmed I did have Keratoconus that was advanced he said I needed a procedure done called corneal cross linking in order to stop the disease process and to strengthen my cornea. After many questions I finally asked what it would cost and the doctor said $5000 for both eyes that included follow up visits, but does not cover the special contacts I will need. I thought ok I have insurance but then he proceeded to let me know that insurance did not cover this procedure because it was not yet FDA approved so I would have to pay out of pocket. I felt my heart drop and I thought where am I going to get this much money. I left the doctors office feeling defeated and down thinking I have a family to support and I can't afford it. God has been so good and I'm thankful. I pray everyday and I know God will provide I have faith in him. I've never done anything like this before and it's overwhelming but humbling, I trust everything will work out. If anything the most important thing I ask for is prayers for guidance and comfort but any donation Big or Small is welcomed and appreciated. After much research and asking different doctors I've been told by all that this procedure is the best treatment and it has been successfully preformed all over The U.S and Europe with a high success rate.
