We Hello, my name is Akeem Diaz & I am raising funds to help cover my mothers burial cost. She single handily raised my brother & I, all while battling HIV for 17 years. I've put all of my savings towards her burial yet we were short several thousand dollars for her simple ceremony . Growing up my mother made me promise not to tell anyone about her illness so I always felt alienated when it came to discussing my issues. With that I lost hope in there being a solution. I'm 21 years old now & I never believed my mother would past away because she was so strong. She was prideful & so am I. Sometimes our pride made us stubborn and unwilling to ask for help. It took her to pass away to fully grasp the support the community is capable of offering. So today I put my pride aside & openly ask for help from those who can provide hope. Mahalo & Aloha oi. Thank you for everybody for donating. We only raised the goal to help with the aftermath of this tragic event. We hadn't given it any thought until now. Anything extra would go towards all the financial issues left behind such as rent. I had given everything I got & I have to pick up where my mom left off.
