Help the Journalist

As a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker I have spent more than 20 years of my life informing people about the truth. I have traveled to many countries and have captured people’s pain and suffering, as well as their joys and triumphs. I have been in many warzones and disaster areas putting my life in danger because I believe in the value of the human dignity and human rights. I have fought for human rights and peace throughout my life. This passion even got me arrested in my home country, Iran, where I spent several months In jail for telling the truth and defending people who had no voice. Three years ago UNHCR sent me to the United States as a political refugee. Since then I have started to rebuild my life. I started to go to school in the United States, to earn a film degree, and build my reputation as a professional photojournalist in America.

Unfortunately a few days ago someone broke into my apartment and stole ALL of my cameras, my lenses, and my laptop.  The thief or thieves, didn’t just steal a few piece of equipment, they stole my livelihood. Those cameras were all I had from the past, from my home, which I cannot return to. This is a huge set back financially. As I am a full time student, working part time, both paid and unpaid at my internship, it will take me years to acquire new equipment.

So I’m asking for your help. I am asking for donations to purchase a decent used camera and a few lenses so I can continue to work as a photojournalist. I am not asking you for charity. I hope to be able to repay you. I can offer my services in graphic design, video production, editing, photography, philosophy lessons, I can write you a poem, or anything I can help you with.  In my travels I have seen the worst humanity has to offer, and although this loss is tragic for me, I am blessed with my health and I have faith that the universe will show me a silver lining.  Thank you for your help.
