Hey all! Want to join me in making a difference? It would mean the world to me if you took 3 minutes to read this below and helped me in my fundraiser!
My step-father Gary Elliott was a man who never knew the word “no.”

He was a brilliant scientist, a loving father to myself and my siblings, an avid fisherman, and damn good drummer on top of that (I owe it to him for my appreciation of classic rock and jazz, which you will also hear playing at my desk 24-7).
Gary also battled a rare auto-immune disease, Dermatomyositis, for a large part of his life - while it slowed him down, he was never one to admit that it was going to stop him from living the life he wanted to live. Not much is know about the disease or it's causes, for more information you can visit https://rarediseases.org/rare-diseases/dermatomyositis/

When he passed away he left with us his loving spirit, profound resilience, and a deep passion for learning and discovery.
That same “never say no” mentality he passed on to me - which is why I am running the San Francisco marathon in his name, and in junction raising money to benefit Ventura County Discovery Center (The Discovery Center for Science and Technology), an organization that Gary helped launch during his time as a scientist at Amgen.

Those around Gary know how much of an impression he could leave on anyone, even strangers. I hope to keep that impact alive.
So I’d like to thank you in advance for any donation amount that you would like to give, and if at the least it would mean a ton to have your support in my efforts to run a marathon (if you know me, I’m not a big runner but here’s to never saying no).
To make it interesting, I’ll be posting regular training updates over the next two months on FB and Instagram so be sure to follow along!
More information about Ventura County Discovery Center (The Discovery Center for Science and Technology): To encourage Curiosity, Critical Thinkingand Creativity through the exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).
Thank you for reading this far, and thank you for your support!
And to Gary - Happy fishing. We miss you!
