Virginie Audrain needs the help of her friends, family and community to recover from a terrible automobile accident in Melbourne city.
Virginie is a dancer and SynergyDance teacher, storyteller and fiber artist, a Ph.D., registered polarity practitioner, dedicated gardener, neighbor and friend to many in Rappahannock County, where she has made her home for decades.
On Jan. 9, as she was driving not far from home, Virginie's Subaru was hit head-on by a Chevy pickup truck that had crossed the center line; its 28-year-old driver was later charged with being under the influence of drugs. Rescue workers had to cut Virginie out of the wreckage. Transported to INOVA Fairfax Hospital, she spent 11 days in the intensive care unit, where surgeons repaired a pelvis broken in four places, her fractured left tibia and right upper arm, hand and fingers, and her broken left wrist, among other injuries.
Those many who know and love Virginie were so happy and relieved to hear that she made it through the crash and the first few nerve-wracking days in the ICU. Her head, her backbone and her big heart intact, she has now started down a long road of rehabilitation and recovery — and that's where your donation can truly help.
It's unclear whether the driver of the other vehicle had insurance or means to make reparations — or even a valid license, having lost it in a previous DUI. Virginie will need your help to pay for necessary medical, rehabilitation, legal and living expenses, costs that are likely to be beyond most anyone's comprehension.
This kind of thing should never happen to anyone — but for it to have happened to such a giving, kind and loving woman as Virginie . . . we each ought to do what we can to help make things right.
