Hello! Thank you for clicking on this link!
My name is Pauline Serrano and I am a first generation college student and I was raised by a single mother (and a village!!!). I attended California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and earned my bachelor's (2020) and master's (2022) degrees in psychology. I am currently a PhD student at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) majoring in school psychology and I simultaneously teach at CSUN as part time faculty.
I have completely funded my education through scholarships and it has been my dream to give back to the amazing CSUN community. I aspire to become a college professor and supporting underrepresented students is my lifelong goal and passion.
The Jhoanna Serrano Scholarship will support a first generation college student from a single parent household (or a single parent themselves!) attending CSUN. I am honoring my mother, Jhoanna Serrano, for all of her hard work and sacrifice. I would not be where I am today if not for her, my support system, and the generous donors that funded the scholarships I have received throughout my academic career.
My initial plan was to fund this scholarship with my own money once I graduated with my PhD, but I decided I didn't want to wait. So, I humbly need your help in supporting a deserving student! I will be raising funds each year and plan to build relationships with the recipients to create a community of support.
Please consider donating to this important cause and/or sharing with your networks. Every dollar counts! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!!!
