Josh's Journey

Josh Forrest, 23, was in a serious car wreck on Interstate 40 in Nashville, TN as he traveled home from school on Wednesday night, October 8, 2014. He was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital where he was admitted to their Trauma Unit with traumatic brain injury.
Josh was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrage, and shear injuries to the brain, he couldn't breath on his own, and was in a coma. With lots of prayers, great medical treatment, and Josh's fighting spirit he refused to be dependent on the ventilator for long. He began to breath on his own late Thursday evening!!!
In the days to follow his great accomplishment of breathing on his own, the family was not being told much other than he had a long road ahead of him, and it was just a waiting game to see when/if he woke up. We all KNEW there was NO if, it was going to be WHEN. So in the six days that followed him being admitted to the Trauma unit we all continued to pray, and Josh continued to fight, and on day six HE WOKE UP!!!!
Josh is currently at Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital where he is undergoing extensive therapy. He is continuing to make great progress in his recovery and is working hard to get home to his family.
We thank God for His grace, and mercy, and for His blessings. We know we are a blessed family to still have Josh here with us. We are all eagerly awaiting the day Josh can go home to his beautiful wife Cait, and his two precious sons, Tait and Tripp.
Josh's recovery is going to take time and is going to be expensive. Josh will not be able to work for some time, resulting in the family not having any income during this time.
