In the next 12 minutes someone in America will choose to take their own life. Every day nearly 123 Americans die by suicide. Suicide is one of the leading cause of death among teenagers between the ages of 15 and 19.
We are working to change these statistics and the conversation surrounding suicide in America.
Suicidal thoughts can be linked to depression and other mental health issues. Because mental health and wellness is critical for people of all ages, our first product launch is designed to create awareness around suicide, with jewelry depicting the suicide awareness symbol ---the semi-colon.
Our mission is to spread awareness as well as raise funds by donating to the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), an organization that helps people of all ages who struggle with some type of mental illnesses. For more information about the services provided by NAMI visit NAMI.org.
Each piece of jewelry sold through b;aware will allow us to move one step closer to addressing this growing epidemic of needless suicides occurring across the country. Wearing the symbol and seeing it worn by yourself or others, is a daily reminder that no matter how hard life feels, there is more and we can go on to live a good life after struggles with hard times, depression, self-harm or even an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
