This little miracle is Sylas he was born Friday Aug 7 at 6:19am. He came a month early and weighed 4lbs 15oz, 16.5 inches long. This poor guy has a rough road ahead of him. He was born with a imperforated anus which means he has no hole for solid waste to come out... It is a birth defect. When he was hours old they had to perform a colostomy surgery on his right side. After the surgery they started checking to see if there were other problems and sadly to say there are. It was found he also has a tethered spinal cord that he will have to have surgery which is in addition to the surgery that will have to be done to fix the imperforated anus. They are uncertain as to which surgery will be done first as he is currently in the NICU and too small and too weak for either one at this point. We have also been told he has one testical that has not dropped and if it does not drop by the time he is a year old he will have to go through yet another surgery. He has some jaundice as well they are treating. Today they are checking his kidneys to ensure they are properly functioning and in the proper place. This little guy has a long road ahead of him as he grows. This is terribly hard on his mommy and daddy with all these unexpected issues. They are trying just to get him well enough at this point to go home. Anything that you can donate to help Sylas and all the extra care he will need including special equipment, surgeries, and other medical expenses would be so appreciated. He is a true gift from God. This has been very hard on his parents as this is their first child and none of this was expected. His daddy will be the only one who will be able to hold a full time job at this point as his mommy will have to be with him to care for him daily and will be unable to work outside the home as Sylas is going to need a lot of care. Even if it is just a simple prayer or dollar that you can give to help Sylas get well and the cost of the extensive care he need and will continue to need for quite awhile.
