On July 27, 2021, we were told by a local doctor “you need to get down to Bangor, and today. The growth on your arm looks like a soft tissue sarcoma”. He was right. Soft tissue sarcoma’s are rare- it’s estimated that only 13,460 cases will be diagnosed in the United States this year. Uri is one of them. Boston’s Dana Farbor Cancer Institute is the closest treatment center with the specialists necessary to save his life. Three surgeries have been scheduled at this point- with the total number of surgeries (both cancer removal & reconstructive) and radiation treatments that may be necessary remaining unknown. He has remained so strong and positive through this process, hopeful that these amazing doctors will be able to save his arm, and his life. The reality of the cost of weeks of stays in Boston throughout this process is so very scary, along with hospitalizations and testing already completed at EMMC. Uri has always been a hardworking, loving, family man, and although this hardworking man would never ask for help- he may need it. With his life partner of 20 years, Michelle having to stay in a hotel in order to be there with him, everything is getting very expensive. We need prayers everyday- the power of prayer is amazing, and he will need them to keep his mind and body strong to fight this. Our family now has a new motto to live by: “Cancer may have started the fight, but you WILL end it”. Michelle and uri have been so strong throughout all of this and are so incredibly thankful for everyone’s prayers and support!
