Tony's Road to Independence: Help Build His New Future

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-Hearted Supporters,

On Sunday, October 27th, 2024, our dear friend Tony was in a severe motorcycle accident just outside of Strathmore. The accident left him with a spinal injury at T3-T4, resulting in a complete loss of feeling and movement below his upper chest. After being intubated and in intensive care for five days, Tony is finally breathing on his own. Despite this unimaginable news, he is facing it with resilience, determination, and, of course, his trademark humour.

However, the reality is that Tony will never walk again.

For those who know Tony, you know how remarkable he is. He’s someone who has never asked for anything—he’s always been the helper, the first one to show up when someone was in need. Tony has a huge heart, full of compassion and generosity. He loves life, and he’s always been a free spirit, jumping into his truck at a moment’s notice to see where the road might take him travelling across Canada and the US. Meeting people, trying new things, and soaking up every moment, Tony has lived more fully than anyone we know. Now it’s our chance to give back to Tony in his time of need.

While the doctors were able to fuse his spine, they have confirmed that Tony will never walk again. This life-changing news is difficult to process, but Tony is facing it with his characteristic strength and determination. He’s currently undergoing physiotherapy to help him adapt to his new reality, yet the journey ahead will be profoundly challenging, both physically and financially. To regain as much independence as possible, Tony will need extensive support, including a wheelchair-accessible home, a new vehicle suited to his lifestyle, and assistance with the mounting medical and living expenses that continue to grow during this difficult time.

We’re reaching out to ask for your support in raising funds to help Tony adjust to his new reality. Your donation will go toward:

  • Finding and modifying a wheelchair-accessible home
  • Adapting a new vehicle for wheelchair access so he can get back on the road
  • Covering ongoing living expenses and medical bills for his new lifestyle

We know Tony would never ask for this himself—that’s not his way. But it’s our privilege to stand by him now and offer any contribution, big or small, to make his journey a little bit easier. Let’s show Tony that he’s not alone on this journey—let’s help him get back to doing what he loves, in the ways that he can.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and for being here for Tony. Your support means the world to him—and to all of us who care so deeply for him.

With all our love and gratitude.
