Our beloved mother, Julia Savage, has never hesitated to help others. Now it is our turn to help her.
Julia has recently been diagnosed with small cell neuroendocrine type cancer of the cervix stage 3C. This rare cancer is aggressive, can spread rapidly and has a high probability of recurrence if not treated promptly.

This severe cancer requires immediate treatment followed by numerous rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. We the children are putting our life on hold to support, care and help our mother.
We believe that the compassion of others especially within her broad student and teacher community, will help guide us through these trying times.
Our mother has brightened the lives of countless students over the past 30 years she has worked as an educator. During her teaching career she has taught thousands of students from diverse backgrounds in a multitude of countries such as Kuwait, Mexico, Angola, Guatemala, Vanuatu, Ecuador, Honduras, and the USA. She has always been known for her patience and that special ability to instill her love of learning in her students.
Our mother has always been incredibly hard working and selfless. Her story is one of a person who came from a humble background and who worked hard to get where she is. She started tutoring and teaching at the young age of 9 in her hometown in Guatemala in order to help financially support her brothers and sisters. She has self funded her extensive education always striving to excel . She would often work days and study nights while caring and nurturing her two children. Even with this challenging situation she excelled and graduated cum laude from both her bachelor and masters degree. Julia continues to support and financially assist her family members in Guatemala and will always place those she loves before herself. She is a resilient and dedicated woman.
Her optimistic outlook and ability to encourage her students to achieve their best left indelible impressions on so many children that has undoubtedly made this world a better place.
Our mother has two young grandchildren that are blessed to have been enthusiastically taught by her but there is so much more we want her to teach them. When her son Francis needed assistance to take care of his sick baby daughter, Julia took her eldest granddaughter Tasi under her wing and helped raise her until age 10. Tasi considers her grandmother Julia her "mom". All of us ,Tasi included deserve more time with this special woman whom we all adore.
Our mother has so much more to give and to share and she needs financial help ASAP to pay for her forthcoming cancer treatments.

The treatment expenses for this type of cancer is far beyond our family’s financial means. Therefore, we are setting a goal of $100,000 to help alleviate the financial burden on our mother during this exceedingly difficult time. No donation is too small, and we are grateful beyond words for every donation as every cent will go to help cover expenses for surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and related travel expenses. Since our mother’s diagnosis is extremely rare, at the moment it is not possible to rely on insurance to cover the full cost of treatment.
Please keep Julia in your thoughts and prayers as she fights against this cruel disease . Help us fight alongside her!
