On February 13th my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, one of the hardest to treat cancers. There are only two hospitals hospitals in Florida that are able to perform the surgery needed to remove the cancer. My mom is under the care of Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa.
Doctors agreed that in order to perform surgery, she first has to get several treatments of chemo therapy for at least 3 months to suppress any cancerous cells that are spreading through her lymph nodes and to suppress the tumor that is currently growing around vital nerves and arteries making it very challenging to perform surgery.
With that, there is a huge cost to all of these things. We do not have insurance and the hospital did not approve our Financial Assistance to pay off the medical bill. Leaving us with over $89,000 for consultations, multiple tests, and the cost of chemo therapy. As you can imagine we don't know how we'll ever be able to pay that sum, let alone the cost of surgery when the time comes.
If we are not able to pay the costs, that means my mom will have to put off chemo and surgery until we are able to and at this stage the cancer grows rapidly week to week.
$90,000 seems like a lot but we're believing in God for his provision, healing and comfort. It's in times like this when the impossible seems to be staring us straight in the face, when we literally have no way of winning, that God shows up. He is such a faithful father, healer and provider and we are praying and asking friends and family to join us in prayer to see my mom fully healed!
If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting my mom, you know that she is one of the most endearing friends anyone can have. She is strong (this is her third time fighting cancer), she is a friend to strangers and can make anyone feel like they are the most important person in the room. She loves deeply, and fights for people more than anyone I know. She is wise, but she's also one of the silliest and funniest of people. She knows how to make you feel understood and she knows how to speak truth in love better than anyone. If you've met her, then all these things are probably true in whatever amount of time you've been able to spend with her. She is truly the best mother God could've blessed me with and I wouldn't hesitate to brag about her to anyone.
I'm asking that everyone who has been blessed by mom, one way or another, to please join us in fighting for her through prayer and believe for full healing. God will ultimately provide the money and practical needs, but please partner with us to see God move in this situation! Your prayers are powerful and effective and we believe that God is moving because of them!
With that, if you are able to give - again any amount is a blessing - please do! We are so grateful for you, our friends and family, and we are truly blessed to have a God who watches over our every need!
