Our dear friend, Joey Reichardt, 34, is a wonderful loving friend and devoted husband and father to his three children ages 5, 9 and 11. He is a volunteer children’s basketball and soccer coach and works in the youth group at his church. He has a habit of bringing strangers home for dinner or a few days work-whatever they need- sometimes college kids far from home that need a home cooked meal, or the man at the gas station that was down on his luck. Joey’s heart is for EVERYONE. He is always the first person to help any one of his neighbors in need. Joey is the truly kind of man that makes you want to be a better person, just by being in his presence.
Heartbreakingly, a few days before Christmas, Joey and his family were given the news that he has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. Melanoma Cancer is attacking his brain, lungs, liver and spleen. It is a very aggressive form of cancer, and his family, friends, and community are all devastated beyond belief. Joey has already begun radiation treatments on his brain. His doctors are now recommending a medication that could help battle the cancer raging throughout his body. Although Joey and Mary are both very optimistic about this treatment, the price after their insurance is going to be financially devastating. Since Joey can no longer drive he is unable to work and will be mostly shutting down his business that he has worked so hard to build. This is leaving Mary to carry the bulk of the weight for her family.
