My name is Michael Bautsch, and I’m the founder of The Georgia Aviary, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and caring for parrots in need. Today, I’m reaching out not on behalf of the entire organization, but as someone who loves and cares deeply for one very special bird: PB.

PB’s Story

PB is a 19-year-old Umbrella Cockatoo with her whole life ahead of her. These amazing birds can live 80 years or more with proper care, but PB may never see that future without immediate help.

She came to us with a big personality and a gentle heart. Like so many parrots, her early life is a mystery, but she quickly became part of our family at The Georgia Aviary, winning over everyone she met with her sweetness and spirit.

Now, PB is facing the most critical moment of her life. She has developed a severe prolapse that requires emergency surgery. This condition is not only life-threatening—it’s also extremely painful. It has caused her to self-mutilate in desperation, and she now wears a protective collar to keep her from tearing a hole in her own chest.

Why I’m Asking for Help

Emergency avian surgery is highly specialized and costly. As a nonprofit, we do everything we can for parrots in need, but PB’s situation is urgent, and our resources are stretched thin.
