I am in a desperate situation.

For those of you who know my Mom, she spent her entire life caring for and helping others.

And, now I am hoping you will help me help her.

My Mom has had Vascular Dementia for 3-4 years, based on her diagnosis. She is physically functional, but her mind does not allow her to do things she used to do. My mom can no longer remember when to take her medications, whether it is morning or evening sometimes, or anything short term as soon as 30 seconds later. But, she is not gone yet. Her long term memory stretches all the way back. She still is the happy, kind woman we have always known.

I have been my Mom's caretaker for decades. But, a year and a half ago, I was given the title of Permanent Guardian/Conservator and Caretaker. Her only wish was to stay independent in her home, which I was able to do (with the help of my son) until about a month ago. My mom had an infection on the bottom of her toe that turned to the bone. She entered the hospital, and they amputated half of her large left toe. Then, we transferred her to a short term rehab/long term facility for 1 month of rehab.

Somehow, this facility has turned her Rehab into long term care, and I have no recourse or ability to revert back to Medicare. Medicare terminated her enrollment 2 weeks ago because they do not cover Long Term Care, only Rehabilitation.

Medicaid is planning to take her house within a month. There are no other facilities I can move her to because she is in a Medicaid pending status. I literally called every single one within driving distance, as well as in the next state. Either they do not accept Medicaid, or their beds are full.

The facility my mom was sent to is not good. They do not notify me if she is receiving rehab services or when a doctor sees her. They do not communicate whether she receives her medications or not. They lost all of her clothes, and they have never been able to locate them, even though they all have her name on them. This facility is dirty as well.

My mom does not belong in a nursing facility, and she should have the ability to live in assisted living. This is truly her least restrictive environment and appropriate for her needs. There is only one way I can make that happen for her, but I need your help.

My plan is to purchase her home, so I can use the proceeds to move her to a wonderful facility I have found. Her house is in pretty bad disrepair, and the assessed value is worth more than the house is truly worth. If I purchase the house myself, I will not need to pay realtor costs. This is also the fastest way to get the funds, so I can get her out of the nursing home.

I have been a single mother for 27 years. I raised my son on my own without outside help, started again and am raising my little girl on my own without outside help as well. They are 17 years apart in age. I have done well as a single mom. I have never missed a bill, never been out of work, own my home, and am able to pay for my daughter's extracurricular activities. But, I do not have the funds I need to secure the loan.

In order to buy my mom's house, I need to take out an Investment mortgage, which requires 20% down, which is $40,000. I have never had the opportunity to save that kind of money. Friends and family, I am requesting your help.

For those of you who know her, I guarantee you can think of a time that she helped you, watched your kids, hugged you tight, or cooked for you. Please help me help my mom. I am running out of time.
